How miza is progressing on her writing

She is P4 now, and let see how she writes her composition now .... this is one of the compo she wrote on the spot at school. She pick up the love of writing recently, she said, her english teacher in school has inspired her so much on the joy of writing. Thank you Mrs. Mabel A.

Pop! Went the balloon

I am a mischievous and spoilt boy who always gets into big trouble. I stopped my bad and cruel ways after this very incident …

“Mom! Pasar Malam!” I shouted grumpily as the car drove near the shopping mall. Usually, there would be a ‘Pasar Malam’ near the mall. Since it was always packed, it was a good sign that the ‘Pasar Malam’ was running a good business. My mum nodded her head, to confirm that we would be going. The place was so packed as I ran through. I could only see a sea of unfamiliar faces scurrying past. That was when that very ‘thing’ caught my attention. It was round, blue and bouncy. Yes, it was a balloon. That specific balloon had caught my attention. My eyes shone and gleamed as that cheerful little boy held that balloon tightly in his small fist.

Then, that very second, a playful but very mischievous idea struck me. Luckily, there was a train badge pinned on my shirt. I would have guessed what a mastermind I was. It was one of the ideas a delinquent child might do. My smile turned into an evil grin. My eyes narrowed. And my eyebrows slant. My pin was clutched tight in my hand and …

I threw that pin straight. POP! POOM! Everybody around me jumped in fright. The boy just stood there paralysed with an unexplainable expression. Teardrops started forming. Drip. Drop. Drip. Drop. I stood there staring, with the pin in one hand, for once the balloon had burst, that pin flew back in my direction and landed squarely in my hand. Almost paralysed with fear by then, a hand gripped me tightly and pulled me aside. Her eyes were fixed on mine, with steam pouring out of her ears. “Thomas!” she screamed loudly that everyone around us looked. I blushed beet-red. I had soon realised that I had bitten the dust. My plan backfired. Not only that, I had embarrassed my mom, upset the already crestfallen boy. I soon realised the one thing I had to do.

“I am sorry for popping the balloon.” I apologized profusely towards the boy and his parents. The crying boy slowly managed a smile while his parents accepted my apology. As I walked back to my mother, people started looking at me, concerned. Some even shook their heads. I looked down and walked towards my mom with a solemn expression.

That day onwards, I was always attentive and stopped becoming a bully. I learnt that if I know that some bad situation could happen, I should not do it. Once bitten, twice shy!

Student Leader Investitures 2014 - Haig Girls' School

This is the time for the long tradition in Haig Girls's School where some of the girls received their roles as leaders in the school. And Miza had received some roles as well this year. She has more responsibilities to carry, that she needs to be extra careful with how she lives her life and being a role model in school accordingly to the badges she had earned.

She said she received the roles that she always dreams of, they are related to the things she loves to explore in school on top of her academic duties. She wants to be involved more in Art and Information Technology in school. As she joins the school D3T2 program for Art and Infocom, she receives the roles in accordance to that as well.

She received duties as : ICT Leader, Art CCA Leader, Cyber-wellness Ambassador, Art Ambassador, and Time-Out Ambassador. It is going to be fun and exciting journey as she will have to switch between one role to another role. She said she is not going to wear all the badges everyday, she will wear it in accordance to the roles needed for each of the day.

All the best for the girls that received their new roles. Enjoy the journey and learning as being a small leaders between the community and school. It is not about badges or ties at the end of the day, it is about the role and responsibility we need to carry forward as leaders. It is about Lead by example ..... And let me share with you the video I had gathered for that day.

Gold Fish for Good Luck

I love how the school teach the girls to vote for a lot of things they do in class. It's a freedom of choice, even this attitude applied to art class as well. Today, Miza came back from school and show me this beautiful charm of goldfish. She said, "My class voted me for my art work, the whole girls in class. They are so kind to me, and I earn this gift from my art's teacher"

And these are her works that had been selected by the class. Cheers

Miza is set for 2014

She is all set for 2014. All her school's extra activities have been settled. She has another one full week to look ahead. She will be having a lot of fun doing with art after school as well as exposure on digital graphic. She is joining the talent program for Art and Infocom at school. She is looking forward to work with the digital graphic from her infocom class. She is hoping to work with some animation as well this year. On top of that this year she will be joining the P5 and P6 batch for her art activities in school.

Of course on top of that, she has a target that she wants to achieve. She wants to balance school and hobby better this year. She had learnt how crucial it is to have a good time management in order to balance hobby and school. Last year her schedule was very tight and cramped between school's exam and art competitions here and there.

She said it is all about Time and Commitment, to continue telling herself that she has to focus on things she needs to do and achieve for the day and put those are not important on the side. Of course it is not easy, it takes strong discipline to do that. All the best Miza .......

and here are some of her newest drawing .....

Miza's Design on School Handbook for 2014

She is so happy to see her design work on the school handbook. And it is a pretty handbook as well. I am sure the girls in the school will love the book. Mrs. Jess Low her art teacher who is her Math teacher as well guide her on this project. Mrs. Low has inspired miza so much on her art works. I think Miza met Mrs. Low quite number of hours and days during her P3 journey. It is actually a very interesting combination to have a Math and an Art Teacher as one person. It is two subject that goes in opposite ways, one requires structure and logical thinking, the other requires creativity and freedom. So it was a marvelous journey for both of them I am sure.

and let me share with you the video i found from Adobe channel, since we are looking into purchasing the adobe photoshop software online. here you go ... i hope you can see the benefit out of it.

Okay ... me and Miza wish you a happy holiday. Cheers from Singapore

It's a wrap for the year end 2013

It's a wrap! Miza is closing her 2013 year very soon, few more to look forward too before she really ends this year. One of them is her LAMDA exam which is due next week right after she returns from Bali. She enjoys doing her speech and drama as well, and she always looks forward for the year end exam to test her ability on delivering two poems in front of the examiner who fly all the way from London. This is an international certification. It has been a good result for her for the past two years that is why it gives her high motivation to continue the effort.

She has involved in more art activities recently, be it inside the school or outside the school. She is very much involved on few numbers of children art competition these recent months. She wanted to learn how she actually can adjust her time and schedule between following up her passion for art as well as study in school. It is not easy, especially when everything due about the same period of time. She has things to juggle and balance as well as stay healthy. So this year is a good experience for her to actually access her capability on balancing her schedule. Hopefully she learns well from this year experience next year, how to prioritize her time and focus.

She knows that she has to be strong in Math and English, and that will be highly emphasized on her focus for academic. Her score dropped a bit for the second semester of this year academic result, but thank's to her first semester result that overall year end result still put her in the first category banding. But come to P4 is very crucial, she really needs to understand how to maintain her schedule as well as allocating her focus accordingly, between her hobby and study. She said ... she loves to be busy and looking forward for something.

She had achieved things here and there and she also lost things here and there. But what most important is to quickly come back and recover from the lost as soon as possible and move on to continue to do her best. She understands hard-work and discipline is the key for everything. She also realized, she lost one distinction reward for Mathematics International Competition, she hopes to recover that back next year.

She travels a bit more this year to follow her passion and meets so many new friends. She enjoys making new friendships and sharing laughter with them. She loves to hug everyone around her, she can basically hug someone who she just know for the day. Her hug is contagious, it just sparks love and warmth to people around her. That is wonderful Miza ..... keep it up!

So that is basically the good year in miza's life like some other good years that she already has in life. Every milestone in her life is because somebody else help and support. She must remember that, appreciating other efforts no matter how small it is is very important. I also hope she continues making friends with everyone around her without boundary. Every friends are special, they bring certain things in life and enrich her experience toward life. And one last thing, stay humble ..... when we stay humble we continue learning, and in life, I hope she learns it very well, things can be unfair or unexpected no matter how well we had prepare our selves, by realizing that, I do really hope she can recover fast and continue to move on and put her best effort no matter what.

Cheers everyone, we are in Bali now ......

Happy Birthday Singapore

These are the Singapore National Day Celebration logo for this year.  The school gave each student a paper consist of 6 of this template without color. The student suppose to decorate, color them in their own creative way and submit it back to the school. The teacher then will work on something creative based on this for each class.

Miza asked me to scan the blank template and print it, so she has more to color and to decorate with. She just love doing all these. In the end she came up with 11 designs of it.

My P2 teachers - Mrs. Chin and Ms. Radiah

This is Mrs. Chin from Haig Girl's School. She is Miza's form teacher in her second year in Haig Girl's School. Mrs. Chin is a very wonderful lady, I become to know her more through the story Miza shared with me at home right after she came back from school.

One day she came back home telling me the story how difficult life was when Mrs. Chin was very young. Mrs. Chin and her sister have to be very prudent with their life, their mother worked very hard for them. Singapore was so much different compare to now. Mrs. Chin told the girls that they are very lucky now and they must be thankful with what they have in life.

And the next day, Miza came back home with another story. This time is the story  how Mrs.Chin and her family help their poor neighbor who lost both of their parents until they became orphan. Mrs. Chin and her family helped that neighbor by providing food for them until one day one of those children's family came and adopt the siblings and sold their parent's  house at the same time. Mrs. Chin told the girls how the first daughter of that poor family worked so hard to help all her sibling graduate from school. At the end the first daughter never completed her study herself, but she is very happy because all her siblings completed their education fully. Mrs. Chin told the girls that education is very important for their future.

And many more great story that emphasize value on these girls. I am very grateful for that, I think in this modern society we tend to forget the simple value of life and how important it is to be thankful with what we have. Mrs. Chin's effort to keep reminding the girl is really a great help for us as parent.

Miza adores Mrs.Chin so much. She said .... Mrs. Chin is an awesome teacher and mother for her only son named Samuel. She also let the girls read the book that Samuel has, she carries the books to school all the way from home. The girls love all the books she brought to the school, including Miza.

Mrs. Chin is very supportive as well, I can communicate with her openly when I have concern about my daughter, not just academic in particular but including her social behavior and manner in school. I really appreciate her input and feed back to me a lot of time. She is very approachable and supportive.

I think Haig Girl's has made a great wonderful two years experience for my daughter, and I am sure this will continue all the way until she graduate from her primary education.

In her second year in Haig Girl's School, Miza has two teachers in charge for the class. Mrs. Chin is the one that is in charge fully and she is being assisted by Ms. Radiah, who also in charge for Mathematics in class.

So far my daughter has not encountered major problem on her Math class, but Ms. Radiah is very helpful and communicative when I have question on Miza's homework or how to do certain math processing. Ms. Radiah is also in charge for the talent art program in school (D3T2), and Miza happens to be in that class too. She likes Ms. Radiah a lot too because both of them share the same interest of Art or drawing in particular. And I think, this common interest between the two of them had inspired Miza to love Math too.

Once she said ... We can be a great artist and very good with Math too .... and that statement itself inspires her a lot to work hard on math. She understand it is very important to be strong in Math.

Oh Well! We are indeed lucky parents. For as long as my daughter was in school since her pre-school year she has wonderful experience with her teachers. That makes her feel home when she is in school. Everyday, she is looking forward to go to school though sometimes she has trouble waking up very early in the morning.

Enjoy your school Miza ...... :)

Hello! It has been a long time

I have not updated this blog for quite sometimes now! There are few reasons for it, I was away for almost for one month during school holiday, and when I am back from the holiday, I was having the trifle jitters day to adjust myself back to the routine. So everything goes first thing first.

I had realized I have not done much for Miza's personal recording for her Primary 2 years. And believe me, she is in second semester now, the time is running fast I better quickly update her here.

Alright! for the start which is still fresh ... her 2 trophies. She just recently received another 2 trophies to add to her collections. One is from her drawing competition with Global Art which was held at Bedok Community Center end of June this year.

She did not have a good preparation for this competition, she was away for the holiday, so we took it very lightly. And when she won ... she was really glad! and she is looking forward for the national competition in September this year. All the best Miza.

The second trophy is the one she got from the school for the Sport Day event this year. She and her classmate won the competition at the second place. They were in the first place last year. No matter what the girl looked so happy with their achievement.

Oh well! This is for now! I have many to update on this blog, I will be doing that soon. I hope one day when Miza grows up she can always come back to this blog and read what I had written about her.

And thank you for visiting this blog. Cheers!
